Where the Action Figure Collecting Happens

Why did they decide to split the Grindhouse back into 2 films?

Because no-one wanted to see it so it didn't take enough money at the US box-office. They don't want to make the same mistake in the UK.

Most people just didnt get the concept behind the original idea of a "Double feature." Most felt it was too long, the second half was slow, and didnt enjoy the whole "Grindhouse" experience. So they split them up in order to create a better chance to make money, thinking that people would rather see one or the other or see both seperately, thus making more money (its all a damn business). Personally I loved seeing it in the theater as a "double feature" - two entertaining films for 1, great! One of the best, creative, and most unique ideas in Hollywood for a long time, unfortunately it failed,so the chances of seeing more double features or any other experimental film ideas is extremely slim. I like the fact that they are splitting them on DVD though too. Each will be released unrated and extended cuts, which is awesome. But unfortunatey the "trailers'' seen in between the films (which were awesome) wont be included in either dvd, for some weird unknown reason.

So they could make more money, unfortunately. They are releasing them a full month apart (Deathproof Sept 18 and Planet Terror Oct 16)- I thought it was supposed to be a double feature! Seperating them takes all the fun away from it, with the trailers in the middle and the aura of the Grindhouse.

I think it didn't do that good in theaters, so releasing them seperately gives them the chance to make up more money.
Or maybe the full length would not fit on one disc, so they knew they have to make it two discs, then thought that they'd make more money with two. Both are being released as 2-Disc special editions, so this is the likely case.

Well, they are seperate stories and even though some of the actors appear in both films. it'll just confuse people and nobody is gonna want to sit in a cinema for 4-5 hours
